Hector

Sunday was the last car-free day in Kensington Market until next summer, so it seemed a great day for us to go down there.

The Mexican Store (I don't know if that's it's real name, that's what we call it) is a compulsory stop, not just because they have the best prices on bulk foods in town, but because they have the most amazing churros. Hector, the storekeeper, offers one in this photo.

Always ready with smile and a good word, it's a pleasure to enter his shop.

You were at PS Kensington too? Incredible I never saw you - there were but 30 000 people there. Hope you caught the samba band and then Richard Underhill's full horn section at the end playing Afrobeat style, soo nice. What great ending

Hey, Pappy!

Yeah, we were there. Missed both bands you're talking about, although I'd have loved to see Richard Underhill (jazz freak that I am). Heard some horrible punk band on Augusta south of Kensington. We ducked into Kings veggie restuarant to eat cruelty-free and escape the noise!

We spent a couple of hours at the African Drum store on Dundas near Dennison as a little impromptu drum circle was happening - very very cool stuff!

Photos of all the above to come later in the week.

I thought I saw you, but you were about a block north of me (maybe Augusta and Nassau?) and I saw gears and thought, "nah, couldn't be pappy!"

;-)

No use yelling at you with the crowds...

It's a nicely framed, nicely captured photograph but I'm so curious about the colours in the jars and etc.

Thanks, Di. Actually, the colours in the jars are fairly muted. For some reason, perhaps because I've been shooting black and white forever, I'm much more comfortable converting what I do into monochrome. I wonder if this one might be more communicative in colour?

Thanks for your comment!
